Tommy’s Take: The Calm Before the Major Storm
We are officially on the clock, folks. With the PGA Championship lurking at Aronimink this week, it felt like the final deep breath before the madness begins. But don't sleep on the action—there were fireworks everywhere. Actually, there was so much golf I nearly lost my notepad.
Over on the US PGA Tour, we actually had two winners. First, at the Truist Championship, Norwegian Kristoffer Reitan got it done at 15-under, holding his nerve while the big names chased. Ricky Fowler—rocking the orange college colours in the final round—tied for second with Nicolai Højgaard. But my eyes were on Alex Fitzpatrick. Playing in the final group? Massive pressure. He shot a disappointing 73 and didn’t get the job done, but let’s be real—this is still an incredible start to his US PGA Tour career.
Meanwhile, at the Myrtle Beach Classic, Brandt Snedeker rolled back the clock. Shot a final-round 66 to grab his first Tour victory in over seven years. That’s what I love to see—old dog, new tricks, putter on fire.
Now, the DP World Tour went absolutely daft. I don’t know if the coffee was stronger or the pins were weaker, but South African Yurav Premlall went berserk, claiming his maiden DP World Tour win at the Estrella Damm Catalunya Championship in Spain. And he didn't just win—he set a tour record. A 14-shot victory. Finished at 28-under, with second place way back at 14-under. That isn’t winning; that’s a hostile takeover. Unreal.
Next up? The USPGA Championship at the Donald Ross-designed Aronimink Golf Club in Pennsylvania. Bring your big boy pants.
