It’s All About Nelly
Nelly Korda has done it again. The world No. 1 claimed her second consecutive major title on Sunday, winning the U.S. Women's Open at Riviera Country Club.
Finishing at 8-under par, Korda carded a final-round 69 to get the job done. It wasn't easy. She battled through a crowded leaderboard, with Charley Hull and Gaby Lopez finishing just one shot back at 7-under. Hull actually fired a sensational 4-under 67 in the final round to post the number, but Korda—who carded a final round 69 (-2 under) —never flinched.
The dagger came on the 17th, where she drained a critical birdie to take the outright lead. The 18th provided a bit of drama, but the result is history: back-to-back majors for the American superstar.
What else happened?
· PGA Tour – The Memorial: It was J.T. Poston who prevailed in a playoff against Ryan Gerard. Both finished 72 holes at 12-under par (score of 276). Poston made a par on the second playoff hole to seal the win.
· DP World Tour – KLM Open (Amsterdam): Young Spaniard Eugenio Chacarra won his second DP World Tour title. He birdied the final hole to get the job done, finishing at 11-under par.
But let's be honest. This week belongs to Nelly. It's all about her.
